The ability to effectively lead and support is crucial in the uniformed protective services. When all members of a team understand their role, feel supported and know what is expected of them, an effective team can achieve its objectives. Teamwork and effective communication are embedded in the uniformed protective services.

In this unit, you will learn about leadership, investigating the different styles of leadership and how they are best used in the uniformed protective services. You will learn how to be an effective team member while developing leadership skills and will have the opportunity to apply these skills in different situations. You will gain an understanding of the different types of communication systems used by the uniformed protective services, and the importance of clear communication, together with learning how these systems have enabled the services to become more efficient. In completing the assessment tasks for this unit, you can draw on your learning from across your programme.

Completing the unit will help you to progress to degree or apprenticeship programmes that focus on work with external organisations and to employment.

Mobile devices are everywhere and their impressive sales and primarily driven by the innovative apps that keep their users educated, informed and entertained. The mobile applications sector enjoys a thriving commercial ecosystem and it can be profitably targeted by small start-ups and larger corporations alike. 

Developing a mobile application is typically the result of having a good initial idea or solving an essential problem; making that mobile application really successful comes from an appreciation of the intricacies of mobile devices, the various forms of functionality available and how apps are designed to be intuitively usable. The ability to create such applications is a highly sought skill and will help you, as a software developer, gain a competitive edge. 

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Services is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; how to provide facial skin care, manicure and pedicure treatments, apply make-up and to be able to create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector.

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practice in a salon environment, client care and communication in beauty related industries. You will also develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services.

UB200B8 Provide Make-Up Services.

The level 2 award in make-up  has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in providing make-up services.

This unit is about providing make-up services for a variety of occasions, including day, evening and special occasions.

You will need to show you can work with a variety of skin types and conditions.  The unit covers the application of a wide range of make-up products to different skin tones and age groups.

Underpinning this qualification you will develop knowledge of how to maintain effective health, safety and hygiene throughout your work  practices in a salon environment.  You will also need to maintain your personal appearance and and how to promote client care and communications in beauty related sectors.  You will also develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skill learned throughout this qualification.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services.

Your VLE will be updated on a frequent basis and contains all coursework (workpacks, assignments and quizzes), teaching material and useful web links.
